New rules for the Ladder competition

From now until the Christmas holiday break we will run three Ladder group competitions — Rooks, Bishops and Knights, for advanced, intermediate and beginner players.

The first Ladder games can be played on Saturday 12 September.

Nothing here is set in stone.

We may move players from one group to another depending on performance levels, and any new members will be placed in a group fitting their abilities.

How the Ladder works

  • You can only play each person in your group twice — once as White and once as Black.
  • 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 point for a loss.
  • It must be agreed by both players before the game starts whether it is to count as a Ladder game.
  • The use of clocks is optional, but if used must be a minimum of 10 minutes each.

Reporting your results

All results must be reported back to Graham.

We meet at Ferndown Library every Saturday, 10am–12 noon, and the club is open to 6–16 year-olds.
