I am writing to invite members of your club to take part in a community chess event that I will be hosting in Ringwood on Friday 17th July.
The Grand Chess Challenge – Simultaneous Chess Exhibition
Jacqueline’s Tea Rooms, Ringwood
Friday 17th July at 4:00 PM
Free entry – players and spectators are warmly welcome.
During the exhibition I will play up to 20 opponents simultaneously. Although it will be a competitive challenge, the emphasis is very much on creating a friendly, relaxed and enjoyable afternoon of chess for players of all abilities. Whether your members are experienced club players, improving players, juniors or simply enjoy the game, they would be most welcome.
I am an Arena FIDE Master with a current online Elo rating of 2707 and have competed extensively online. I currently hold a ranking of 3rd in the United Kingdom from over 23,000 active UK players, and 87th in the world from over 900,000 active players on the Checkmate chess platform. Whilst Checkmate is a smaller platform than Chess.com or Lichess, I hope these rankings provide an indication of my current playing strength. That said, this event is intended to be an enjoyable community occasion rather than a formal tournament, and for many players it may be their first opportunity to experience a simultaneous exhibition.
There will also be a spectator prediction competition, with a £100 Jacqueline’s Tea Rooms café voucher awarded to one entrant who correctly predicts the final score.
