A wonderful turnout of 17 enthusiastic students gathered together on this beautifully sunny and bright day.

With the invaluable assistance of Jon Catchpole and John Heath, we successfully managed to cover a wide range of important aspects within the various skills involved in playing chess.
Jon and Jonah played Kieran and myself in a Hand and Brain game, which had to be agreed a draw after running short of time, good fun though!
Mountain Final
The Mountain Climb Challenge Final featuring the competitors Gagan and Kieran was played out with great excitement and determination, ultimately resulting in a well-deserved victory for Kieran. A Trophy will be organised and presented shortly.

Fantastic achievement, well done Kieran!
Lesson for the day was the Sicilian Opening.

The Sicilian Dragon is named for the similarity of its structure to the constellation Draco. Having played 2…d6 and 4…Nf6 (inducing 5.Nc3, blocking the c-pawn) Black continues by fianchettoing the king bishop, which shoots along a strong, long diagonal.
- Extremely sharp
- Unique positions
- Great attacking chances for Black
Belated Bronze Award
Eden recently achieved an impressive Bronze award by securing 3rd Place at the Dorset Junior Chess Championships, which took place on the 1st of March. We sincerely apologise for the delay in presenting this recognition, but it is undoubtedly well deserved. Congratulations and fantastic work, Eden!
