Fourteen enthusiastic juniors bravely faced the chilly weather to enjoy a lively Saturday morning chess session. It was wonderful to see familiar faces like Austin, Lishanth, and Arthur return after taking a short break. Their presence was truly appreciated and added to the positive atmosphere of the morning. Ladder games were the order of the day with just a few weeks left to decide the final winner.
Two of the juniors really enjoyed playing their game on the large display board, fully engaged and having a great time. Jon skillfully tested the abilities of Advik, while Kiara thoughtfully made her move, carefully considering her options, whilst yours truly was capturing the moment by taking the picture.
Wins today for Tishitha, Gagan, Isaac, Lewis, Advik, and Eden, marking an impressive day of achievements for all of them. Each individual demonstrated skill and determination, contributing to their well-deserved victories. These wins highlight their commitment and the positive results that come from perseverance and effort.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Jon Catchpole for generously offering his valued time and expertise. His guidance and support were instrumental in nurturing Advik’s skills, and through his thoughtful approach, they reached an agreeable draw.
With these latest results, the top 13 ladder positions now appear as follows:
Gagan and Advik have climbed to the very top of the chart, securing the leading positions. Meanwhile, due to the absence of Michal and Constance, they have unfortunately slipped down the rankings slightly, causing a noticeable change in their standings.
Mid Week Quiz
The quiz competition has now finished and I am currently just waiting for one or two remaining questionnaires to arrive on my chessboard so that I can finalise and confirm the overall standings. Hopefully by next week the results can be posted.
