Another fantastic super Saturday unfolded with 20 enthusiastic and eager students diligently keeping the dust off the boards and sharpening their chess skills throughout the entire morning session. My thanks to Jon for his valuable assistance and also to those parents and children who help to clear up at the end of the day.

During the first hour, with the majority of juniors in attendance, I went through the Bird Opening, sharing insights and strategies with the hope and strong expectation that some of them might be inspired to try it out. This opening can be quite enjoyable and often leads to very tactical and engaging games, providing a fresh and exciting challenge for all players involved.

Ladder Games and standings

Lots of great games played today with wins for Constance, Austin, Gagan, Arnav, Zayd, Jonah, Kieran, Lily, Wyatt, Michal, Iris and Jack.

Michal and Wyatt are currently tied for the top position, closely followed by Gagan and Austin who remain in hot pursuit. The competition is intense as these four competitors battle fiercely for the leading spots. Here are the top 16 placings:-

Climbing The Mountain

Two games were played today, one between Gagan and Michal, in which Gagan skillfully drove the ice pick in with great force and precision to win, and Keiran played Wyatt and carefully hauled himself up onto the next rock, steadying his balance as he prepared for the next game.

It's excellent experience to compete in these types of competitions, give it a try. There are 6 or 7 from our club now going. Gagan, Kieran, Eden, Advik, Jack, Wyatt and maybe Constance.

Please Note - The club will be closed on the 7th March as I'm taking a short holiday.
