Great turnout today with 12 juniors despite the really hot day, as this was the last Saturday morning until September, a bit of fun chess took part before prize giving and various presentations.

First off a round of suicide chess, but first the rules for those who don’t know:-

Suicide Chess Rules

   The general ruleset follows:

  1. The normal chess rules are valid, with the following extensions.
  2. You must capture whenever possible. If there is more than one capture available, you can freely decide between them.
  3. When one player loses all his material, they are the winner. If the end of the game is a Stalemate, the player with the least number of pieces wins. If both players have the same number of pieces, it is a draw, the value of the pieces does not matter
  4. The king is a ”normal” piece, that means you can capture it, there are no checks or checkmates.

This was followed by a round of 960 chess, quickly followed by a round of Hand & Brain, in which some of the parents joined in with the fun.

Ladder results and Presentations

Many Congratulations to our top three winners.

Ladder winner Constance with her trophy and certificate.

Runner up in the Ladder was Gagan, who has an extremely good chess brain and is destined to become a star player. To honour his achievements this year, I presented him an award for being an ‘Exceptional Chess Player’ along with his Silver medal and Certificate.

Advik was 3rd in the Ladder so gets a Bronze medal along with his certificate. This young man is another one to keep an eye on, he’s very very good.
